'Super Mario Odyssey' Review: Quick Hands-On Reveal Why It's The Best Release for Nintendo Switch

The world of "Super Mario" is one that is heavily laden with nostalgia. Although many fans thought that their favorite plumber would be reduced to nothing but a memory, Nintendo proved otherwise through the release of "Super Mario Odyssey" for their flagship console, the Switch. Early hands-on experience from critics has a few things to say about the upcoming game title.

First introduced during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), many were wary from the new controls that would propel Mario to do what gamers would like him to do. Given that many grew up with its relatively simple controls on previous consoles, Nintendo introduced a plethora of new motions that will be available to the Switch. However, as complicated as it may have been, those who got to experience an hour of "Super Mario Odyssey" found it easy to fall in love with.

According to The Verge, the instructions that the game gives on the Nintendo Switch did a better job at walking gamers through the new controls than what the gaming giant gave at E3. "Super Mario Odyssey" gives fans, even more, ways of interacting and moving through the new world. Although it may take a while to get used to, the motion controls are bound to make gamers poke through objects in the universe just to see how everything will react to their character.

Meanwhile, Engadget lauded "Super Mario Odyssey" as a game title that was better than Nintendo's attempts in the Wii U. This time, the developers have achieved the difficult task of making fans, new and old, fall in love with a character that many has outgrown. The boss fights are especially lovable, and although they could not reveal much information on it, this part of "Super Mario Odyssey" will surely be one of the most loved features of the game.

"Super Mario Odyssey" is set to be released on Oct. 27 for Nintendo Switch.
