Super Nintendo Classic 'Chrono Trigger' Coming Soon to iOS Devices (VIDEO)

The much-heralded Super Nintendo Entertainment System role playing game "Chrono Trigger" will soon be playable on Apple's may iOS mobile devices.

Square-Enix's Members blog provided some details on the much-anticipated release.

"The SNES classic, referred to by many as one of the greatest RPGs ever made, will soon be available on your iPhone and iPod Touch. Price and an exact date are still forthcoming, but rest assured that you'll be able to get your hands on this epic adventure through time before the end of December," said the blog.

"We can give you a sneak peek at what the game will look like, however, including the touch screen interface. Just check out the screenshots below. Chrono Trigger will be available in Japanese, English, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Chinese. We'll have more information (including pricing) nearer the game's official release next month," the blog continued.

Owners of the PS3 can now play “Chrono Trigger,” as the game is being offered as a PSOne classic release. It is also playable through the Wii's Virtual Console.

This video game is highly regarded by several followers of the gaming industry. It took home multiple awards from Electronic Gaming Monthly's 1995 video game awards. Publication Nintendo Power called it Square's "biggest game ever." Official PlayStation Magazine deemed it "original and extremely captivating."

Square-Enix currently has two other RPG titles for sale on the iTunes store.

"Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions" is available at $16 while the port of the original "Final Fantasy" retails at $9.

The iOS user interface for these games use a virtual joystick for locomotion and a touchscreen menu for battle.
