Super Smash Bros 4 Characters: Fox McCloud of Star Fox Shows off New Weapon Feature

Yesterday another sneak peak for Super Smash Bros 4 Wii U was revealed by game director Masahiro Sakurai when an up close picture was released of character Fox McCloud's weapon.

McCloud's weapon of choice is a highly sophisticated handgun that looks to be tailor made for him. The character has used the gun as a long range means of attack since the franchise's inception for the N64.

"Here's a close-up snapshot of Fox McCloud's Blaster. It can open up," said Sakurai through Mii-Gamer.

McCloud is from one of the major Nintendo series' of the company, Star Fox. However, the games are not as highly regarded as Mario, Legend of Zelda, or even Metroid.

The first installment for Star Fox was ground breaking when it was released for the Super Nintendo. The game featured specialized 3D graphics on a 2D platform. The N64 saw arguably the best game in the series and one of the more memorable for the console, with Star Fox 64.

Sakurai recently revealed the weapon of another of the game's characters, Samus Iran, from the Metroid series.

She received an upgrade on her most powerful and well known attack, the charge shot.

The charge shot is one of her most powerful attacks and is good from long distances. The only downfall of the move was it took a long time to execute, leaving the character vulnerable for attack and unlikely to constantly go for the shot.

Sakurai told Mii Gamer that the charge shot was "drastically improved," and that the whole process would be faster along with the move being more powerful.

"The Speed and Power of Samus's Charge Shot has been drastically improved. However, that could potentially put her in danger in occasion," he said.

The game is expecting an early 2014 release, and will be coming to the Wii U and 3DS.
