Super Smash Bros 4 Characters: Mario and Luigi Square off in 100th 'Pic of the Day'

Super Smash Bros 4 released its 100th "pic of the Day" today as it shows off Mario and Luigi getting ready to duke it out.

"Pic of the day. This one marks the 100th pic of the day! Without further ado, I'd like to introduce Luigi as he adjusts his nose. Hope you enjoy!" said the game's director Masahiro Sakurai for the caption. See the image here.

Earlier in the week, Sakurai unveiled another sneak peek of the upcoming game that shows off both Pikachu and MegaMan. The screenshot, from the 3DS version of the game, appears to show everyone's favorite Pokemon, Pikachu, jumping onto MegaMan.

"Pic of the day. I've got this strange growth on my back lately---which should be impossible, since I'm a robot," wrote Sakurai, captioning the picture on Miiverse. See the picture here.

Sakurai also hinted at the possibility of a new Pokemon from X and Y coming to the game. This time, he showed off a picture of Pokemon's Pikachu standing alongside Pokemon X's mascots cover character, Xerneas.

"Pic of the day. We have absolutely nothing to announce today regarding Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Really!" he said in what seems like a sarcastic manner.

It is uncertain if Xerneas will be a playable character but it will be in the game in some fashion.

Recently the game's release date may have been unintentionally leaked on a website listing. The website Newegg.com lists the Wii U date as December 31 2014 and the 3DS version of the game as being available on May 16 2014. See the listings here (3DS) and here (Wii U). SSB4 Wii U is $59.99 and SSB4 3DS is $39.99.

The characters confirmed for the game so far are: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, Wii Fit Trainer, and the Villager.

SSB4 is set to arrive in early 2014.
