'Super Smash Bros. 4' News: Game Director Wanted Geno to Be Included in Game

Game designer Masahiro Sakurai wanted "Super Smash Bros. 4" to feature "Super Mario RPG" character Geno.

In an interview featured in the Japanese magazine "Nintendo Dream," game director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that he planned to include Geno in "Super Smash Bros. 4" as a playable fighter. He explained that Geno would be a good fit into the game and he is also one of the most popular characters in older video games, Nintendo News reports.

Geno first appeared in the 1996 game "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars." Since his debut, the powerful wooden doll with arm guns has enjoyed a loyal Nintendo fanbase, the report details.

However, Geno has not made it to any of the "Super Smash Bros." series so far. However, in the Wave 5 DLC for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, Sakurai added an optional downloadable Mii fighter costume that includes a Geno Hat and Outfit for Mii Gunners.

Meanwhile, the final DLC for "Super Smash Bros." for 3DS and Wii U has just been released. The new DLC brings new characters to the game, Parent Herald relays.

While many fans would have loved the game to continue, the recently released DLC will be the last one for the title. Sakurai told Nintendo Dream in an interview that they have to end the series to keep the excitement up for the fans, the report adds.

Although they could keep adding new characters to "Super Smash Bros.," it would create lesser excitement for them at this point. This is the reason why they have decided that now is the right time to bring the title to an end.

For now, fans have yet to see if Geno will indeed appear in "Super Smash Bros. 4" or not. Some are also hoping that he will appear in the next installment of the game.
