Super Smash Bros 4 News: Alternating Tracks and Boxing Ring Version Selection

Super Smash Bros. Brawl 4, an upcoming fighting game from Nintendo is scheduled to be released for the 3DS on Oct. 3 and for the Wii U this holiday. While the game was already released in Japan Sept. 13, updates of new features, maps and game modes have been continuously emerging on the Internet.

The game's Director Masahiro Sakurai, released the latest feature to grace the 3DS version of the game: alternating tracks and stage selection in the Boxing Ring.

"For the 3DS version, you can select alternate tracks for stages by holding down the R Button while you select a stage – the brown drop shadow that frames the stage image when you gold down the R Button indicates the alternative track is active," Sakurai wrote.

"For the Living Room Stage, the alternate track is the vocal version of the default track. Songs with vocals aren't the best match for battles, but the song was too good to leave out, so this is how we chose to include it," he added.

For stage selection in the Boxing Ring, Sakurai mentions that while holding down the L Button when selecting a stage, players can play on the Smash Bros. version of the selected stage. If holding down the Y Button, players can choose to play on the Punch Out! version of the stage.

"These variations are usually selected at random, but this method lets you select them manually," Sakurai said.
