'Supergirl' Cast News, Update: 'Salem' Actor Iddo Goldberg Joins CBS Superhero Show

Iddo Goldberg from "Salem" and "Peaky Blinders" has recently been announced to join the cast of CBS' upcoming superhero drama TV series "Supergirl."

Citing the announcement made over at Warner Bros. Television, ComicBook.com said that Goldberg will be taking on the role of Dr. T.O. Morrow, who is known among comic book fans as the creator of the super android Red Tornado.

Dr. Morrow was commissioned by the U.S. Army to design the robot, however, the AI superweapon soon "becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City" and its inhabitants which would also include the people whom Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) cares for, says Warner Bros. Television.

It remains to be found out if Goldberg will portray both the genius scientist and the artificial being.

The website clarified that both characters, though they are linked in the creator-and-the-created relationship, are totally different when it comes to ideals. Morrow was revealed to be evil in nature while Red Tornado is a hero and a longtime affiliate to the Justice League.

The latter has even served as the mentor to the members of the Young Justice.

Comic Book speculates that the CBS programming will likely veer away from the source material by having the two fuse together, probably from an accident caused by Red Tornado's volatile behaviour.

There's also the possibility that Morrow built the android based on himself. The site said that if this is the case then Goldberg could only be doing the voice work for the android while at the same time appearing as Morrow in person.

The show, which takes flight on October 26 on CBS, is centered on Kara Zor-El (Benoist) who comes to Earth after escaping from the destruction of the planet Krypton.

After years of hiding who she is and what she is capable of doing, she decided to come out and joins the ranks of her powerful cousin to become the superhero she always wanted to be.
