'Supergirl' News, Update: 'The Flash' Executive Producer Greg Berlanti Clarifies Crossover Rumors

Last week saw the unveiling of CBS' upcoming small screen offering, "Supergirl," which features the acts of Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El, Superman's younger cousin.

The superhero show, which won't be hitting the television until this fall, expectedly captured the attention of fans who went on to speculate that the upcoming series might somehow cross over with its fellow DC TV shows like "The Flash" and "Arrow," which are currently aired on The CW.

Despite such desires, it appears that the crossover won't be happening soon, as what Greg Berlanti told Variety.

The executive producer recently posed for the publication's May cover story with actors Grant Gustin and Benoist. He did tell the public earlier that the Kryptonian will likely to appear in Starling or Central City or perhaps the two male characters in her lair. Regardless of which, it appears that CBS still has some other plans for the Girl of Steel and this might hold off the crossover deal.

"The network has said publicly at this point they're going to keep her to themselves. I always approach the shows as a fan first, so I would love to see it. I think in success, all things are possible. But there's a lot that would have to happen before everybody might say yes to that," the showrunner said.

Adam Holmes of Cinema Blend was quick to share his theories saying that aside from the "logistics issues" between the two networks, matters about timeline could also downplay the plans.

However, this can all be patched up if "there was a Crisis-event (something DC fans are quite familiar with)" that could help merge the different universes together.

For the meantime, "Supergirl" is slated to hit the televisions this November on its Monday at 8/7c timeslot on CBS.
