'Supernatural' Casting News, Update: Jeffrey Dean Morgan Wants to Reunite With Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in Season 11

A new casting update from TV Line's Michael Ausiello seems to suggest that the upcoming 11th season of The CW's hit TV drama series "Supernatural" might get to see one of its fan-favorite characters return to the small screen.

According to the publication's correspondent, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is among the many people who are "anxious" to see his character John Winchester return from the dead.

"I would absolutely love to come back," he told TV Line. "There's no official talk that I know of, but I'm always in contact with Jared [Padalecki] and Jensen [Ackles] — they're very good friends of mine."

The 49-year-old "Watchmen" star, who recently signed for a season-long stint on the CBS drama "The Good Wife," said that his scheduling could come as a hindrance for the much-awaited reunion.

"With me it's always been about scheduling. But hopefully we can find a little time and they'll write something that I can do. It would be a great joy to go back and play with those guys," he explained.

Morgan furthermore revealed to Ausiello his one request should his comeback will happen.

"I would love to have Jensen direct me, honestly." he said. "I think that would be a very cool deal. That's always what I've been pushing for."

Executive producer Andrew Dabb has been hinting the return of the Winchester patriarch during the show's Comic-Con 2015 appearance in San Diego.

"To me, it's not if he comes back, it's when. When's the right time? When it's going to be for maximum impact? What you don't want to do is bring a character like that back and waste the opportunity," the executive producer said.

"Supernatural" Season 11 is set to premiere Oct. 7 on The CW.
