'Supernatural' Casting News, Update: 'The Mentalist' Star Emily Swallow Joins Cast in Season 11
The upcoming Season 11 of The CW's fan-favorite TV drama series "Supernatural" will introduce a new "femme fatale" character who will give Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) a headache.
The long-running supernatural drama has now tapped "The Mentalist" star Emily Swallow for the "significant (and malevolent) recurring role" in the new season.
The actress, who also made her appearances on "Ringer" and "Southland," will play the role of Amara, "a femme fatale who is both seductive and sinister (when need be). It's not clear when exactly Amara will be introduced, or what connection (if any) she may have to the just-released Darkness."
The character in question will be in her late 20s who possesses "an acid tongue and a seductive beauty."
"The fearmonger is new to Earth and is so not impressed with the place," TV Line reported, adding that her arrival could have happened "when The Darkness was released in the finale."
The premiere episode to which Amara is believed to debut was reportedly directed by Ackles and is called "The Bad Seed."
As for the rest of the Season 11, executive producer Jeremy Carver said during the Comic-Con International event this month that "this year, we are going to have a little bit more of an epic feel with a Big Bad and a real quest for the brothers to unite."
"Supernatural" Season 11 opens on Thursday, Oct. 7 on The CW.
