'Supernatural' News: Upcoming Season Faces Drastic Changes Due to New Showrunners

The return of the hit series "Supernatural" is expected to bring a lot of changes.

Fans will experience a different kind of show when "Supernatural" returns for its 12th season. It has been confirmed that there will be new faces behind the scenes of "Supernatural," which will bring a shift to its direction.

This is not the first time the show experienced new executives to handle the series. The original creator of the series Eric Kripke left the show after five seasons. From there, the series writer Sera Gamble took over. After "Supernatural" Season 7, Gamble left, which led to Jeremy Carver's time as showrunner.

Now, it was said that Andrew Dabb, who has been a writer for the show since "Supernatural" Season 4, will be taking on the role of showrunner for the next season. He will be joined by the director of the series, Robert Singer.

The change in heads is due to the current showrunner's, Jeremy Carver, involvement with another show. It was reported that Carver's series "Frequency" was recently picked up by the CW. Because of this, he will be leaving "Supernatural."

In addition, the star of the series Jensen Ackles teased how the upcoming series could end. He said, "It's either going to end tragic or it's going to end not tragic. I always thought Dean would make the ultimate sacrifice for his brother. I guess if I had to choose something, that's probably what I would choose."

Since the show has been running for a long time, fans have also been wondering if a possible spin-off could take place in the future. According to Variety, Mark Pedowitz, the CEO of the CW, addressed the matter, explaining that as of now, there is nothing being planned regarding a spin-off. However, he teased that there is still a possibility of it. He said, "We're open to listening."

In addition, "Supernatural" will get a new timeslot when it returns for Season 12. Instead of running on Wednesday nights, "Supernatural" Season 12 will play on the CW every Thursday nights at 9 p.m.
