'Supernatural' News, Update: Cast Members Jensen Ackles and Jared Padelecki Teases Details of Season 11's The Darkness

Fans of The CW's hit TV series "Supernatural" may have seen the Winchester brothers fight with demons, evil spirits, witches and other entities belonging to the darkness. But according to cast members Jensen Ackles (who plays Dean) and Jared Padalecki (as Sam), the onslaught of bizarreness is just getting started as Season 11 has yet to introduce a much darker and powerful entity.

Aptly called "the Darkness," the Season 10 finale saw Sam and Dean getting a glimpse of what Death referred to as the evil that God defeated in a pre-Biblical battle. Divulging more information on the issue, Ackles sat down with the people from Entertainment Weekly to say that the Darkness was built as "one specific entity" which could further mean that the show will be introducing a particular character.

Ackles did admit that he and the rest of the cast were "not quite sure" as to what the character can do as well as "the scope of her powers."

"This one's interesting because it's not really a monster," Ackles further revealed to EW. "It's more of a primal force that we know nothing about. There's no lore; there's no guidebook; there's no instruction manual on how to deal with this."

On an earlier interview with Ackle's co-star, Padalecki, it was found out that the coming of the Darkness will prompt the brothers to tap on the man above as well as to seek the help of Lucifer.

"I think [the Darkness] certainly opens the door for Lucifer and/or God to pop up," Padalecki said (via EW). "We're certainly going back to that and going a bit more biblical and having our take on the writings that didn't make it into the Bible."

For those who missed it, executive producer Jeremy Carver revealed at the latest San Diego Comic-Con International that Season 11 will have a "little bit more of an epic feel with a Big Bad [that is The Darkness]" that will consequently unite the brothers.

"Supernatural" Season 11 kicks off on Thursday, October 7 on the CW.
