For a follow-up to their highly successful album, The Beautiful Letdown, which went double platinum, Switchfoot is currently in their studio in San Diego working on their next album which is slated to be released sometime in July.
Switchfoot's singer and guitarist, Jon Foreman, told MTV that their new album is likely to be influenced in style and theme by the band's recent life on the road and also mentioned that there are about 40 songs already written for the new album.
The band's album, The Beautiful Letdown, occupied a spot among the top 50 Billboard sales chart for the past 8 months and their debut single "Meant To Live" reached #5 on the alternative and pop radio charts while their second single, "Dare You to Move" ranked in the top ten in the same category.
Most recently, the band contributed a new recording to the soundtrack for "Elektra," the latest action movie starring Alias' Jennifer Garner. The song that they performed for the soundtrack was a new version of "Sooner Or Later," from their 1999 album, New Way To Be Human.
Since the release of The Beautiful Letdown, the band has played over 300 mostly sold out performances worldwide in front of over 1.25 million fans. They will be performing live at the Australian MTV Music Awards on March 3. They won Performance of the Year for their MTV Hard Rock Live performance of Meant To Live in 2004.
