Syracuse vs California takes place in the NCAA 2013 tournament third round on Saturday night, with Syracuse looking to continue making progress in the competition and forget the controversy surrounding them concerning the NCAA investigation. This should be a close game and will round off Saturday's third round of March Madness games. The game will tip off at 9.40 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
No. 4 seeded Syracuse stormed into the third round with a confident showing in their game earlier this week against Montana. Their 81-34 win was the biggest win of all the second round games, and sent a clear message to every other team about their intentions for this tournament.
Jim Boeheim, the Syracuse coach, had insisted prior to their second round game that the NCAA investigation would not affect his team at all, and on the showing of Friday night's game he was absolutely right.
Brandon Triche scored 20 points in their demolition of Montana, and Michael Carter-Williams offered nine assists and eight rebounds.
Syracuse shot 52 percent from the field, and also made 22 of their 31 free throws, making them one of the most efficient sides in the tournament so far.
However, No. 12 seeded California should be an entirely different prospect than Montana, and they will definitely put up much more fight tonight at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.
California have already caused one shock by turning over No. 5 seeded UNLV in the second round, claiming a tight 64-61 win. A fantastic defensive showing meant UNLV went 11 second half minutes without scoring a single point, and that was a large reason why the Golden Bears came out on top.
Syracuse vs California is scheduled to tip off at 9.40 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on TBS. Alternatively the game can be watched online through free live stream by clicking here.
