Could rapper Wiz Khalifa be too popular for his own good? Upon releasing his new mix tape "Taylor Allderdice" for free download online, so many fans attempted to obtain the album that the hosting site, datpiff.com, crashed.

"Taylor Allderdice" is named after the high school in Pittsburgh that Wiz Khalifa attended in his teenaged years. The project is presented by Taylor Gang and Rostrum Records.

Khalifa tweeted that his new mix tape was avialble and offered a link for fans to download the project around 9 p.m. last night, and soon after the site was overloaded and crashed, CBS News reports. 

The 24-year-old rap artist was pleased with the immense demand for his project, and when the site crashed he enthusiastically tweeted, "Yeah Taylors, we crashed that [expletive]!!"

Datpiff.com is reporting that as of this afternoon, over 250,000 fans had downloaded "Taylor Allderdice." Many fans left enthusiastic comments at datpiff.com.

One Khalifa fan wrote, "[sic] the new face of hip hop... the new era of music… the same wiz doin his thing forever being creative. Name me a more motivated artists right now..."

Khalifa's mix tape project features 17 songs, but he is not the sole artist on each track. The project is a collaboration with several other popular artists including, Cam'ron, Rick Ross, and Taylor Gang members Chevy Woods and Juicy J. Amber Rose, a model who became Khalifa's finance earlier this month, has a small role in the project as well, as she sings on one of the tracks.

The high demand demonstrated for the young rapper's mix tape bodes well for his sophomore album, set to be released later this year. This album, titled O.N.I.F.C. will feature more collaborations between Cam'ron and Khalifa.

Khalifa is particularly pleased to be working with Cam'ron. "I've been a huge Cam'ron fan forever. Him and Snoop Dogg are my favorite rappers," the 24-year-old told MTV.
