Country music star Taylor Swift is well known for her blonde curly hair, but this week, the singer debuted new straight brunette locks.
Appearing in advertisements for CoverGirl's new campaign "See You, Be You," the 22-year-old dons long, sparkling earrings partially hidden by the light brown and straight hair.
Additionally, the "Love Story" singer is sporting elaborate eye makeup which turns from smoky to silver along the outer edges.
It appears as though Swift is turning a new leaf when it comes to her image. She is often referred to as "America's Sweetheart" and is known for her catchy, narrative songs about her experiences as a teenager and young adult.
Today, the normally golden-haired, red-lipped sweetheart may be trying to look older.
"I really like the brunette look," said New York City-based makeup expert Molly Macnamera. "I think it's fresh and gives her a more mature look than the blonde that we're all used to seeing from her."
According to CoverGirl, the new campaign "showcases her evolving beauty and style transformations," according to Hartford's radio station 965 Tic.
Swift's new look will surely have to effect on the rampant success of her albums, including Speak Now, which saw over one million sales in its first week.
Moreover, news of the country singer's love life has been heating up in recent weeks. Formerly linked to Joe Jonas and John Mayer, new reported indicate that Swift is seeing the 19-year-old son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Patrick.
In addition to singing, Swift has appeared in films "Valentine's Day" and the animated film "The Lorax."
On Twitter, Swift's legions of fans sounded off about the singer's darker look.
"I just saw a pic of Taylor Swift with brunette hair," wrote Ellen. "I think it's pretty hot."
"Love it," wrote Bridget. "Now if she would ditch those wretched curls."
"Looks fab," posted Friends, while Megan wrote, "Taylor Swift looks absolutely flawless (and fearless) with brown hair."
