Taylor Swift Haircut, Singer Sporting Shorter Locks

Taylor Swift has revealed her new hairstyle on Instagram, and also later gave fans another glimpse as she went for a walk around in Perth, Australia this week.

The "Red" singer shortened her signature blonde locks and added side-swept bangs, explaining, "I just need a haircut."

"While in the studio I came to the realization that my bangs are long enough to use as a sleep mask on long flights," Swift posted to Instagram along with a photo of her bangs. "Then I remembered that I don't even use sleep masks on flights. So really, I just need a haircut."

Known for her long blonde hair, Swift's new haircut surprised fans who posted mixed reviews of the singers' new 'do.

"I love Taylor Swift and her haircut," wrote Twitter user Kara, while another posted, "Taylor Swift I love you but your haircut has got to go."

Following the cut, Swift was spotted in Perth just before a concert sporting her new hairstyle parted to the side while her curls landed right below her neck.

The "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer is not the only celebrity to surprise fans with a new hairstyle this month. Just last week, Chelsea Handler debuted a new short 'do on Twitter, revealing new shoulder-length hair in a photo.

"I'm done with hair," 38-year-old Handler posted in the caption to a photo taken from the salon chair with wet, freshly cut hair.

The starlet also added a photo of the trimmings on the ground.

"My leftovers," she wrote.

Meanwhile, Swift is preparing for her 24th birthday on Dec. 13 as well as several upcoming awards show performances.

"It would appear that I'm now 24," the singer posted to Twitter on Dec. 12. "That's on Australian time though. Still 23 in the States."

The already multi-award-winning singer was nominated this week for two Grammy Awards with her "Red" album - news that excited Swift deeply.

"I love you guys we got an album of the year nomination and I'm too excited to use punctuation," she posted to Twitter in all caps on Dec. 6.
