Paul Crouch Jr. has announced that he is leaving Trinity Broadcasting Network to pursue other ministry opportunities.
The announcement of Crouch’s departure was issued through a memo that was circulated to employees on Monday afternoon, according to Charisma News.
TBN national spokesman Colby May confirmed the news through a short statement. "Paul Jr. has resigned from the organization to pursue other ministry work," May said. "A memo was circulated yesterday at the network advising people that he is leaving. I don’t know the specifics of his ministry plans."
A popular figure at TBN, Crouch is the eldest son of Paul and Jan Crouch, founders of the network. He has received a great number of awards in the television broadcasting industry, including the prestigious Telly Award.
Along with his brother, Matt Crouch, Paul Crouch Jr. oversaw the daily operations of the network. According to May, the elder Crouch will take over as chief of staff until a replacement is found.
The news of his departure comes as a surprise, especially since Crouch was intricately involved in the launching of TBN’s new online service iTBN last September. An enthusiastic Crouch promoted the service as an exciting feature that would enable customers to gain increased access to all of their favorite TBN programs.
He also spoke of his parents' contribution to Christian television: "Nearly 40 years ago, my parents helped introduce Christian television to America and the world … and today there's a new generation of viewers who are poised to take Christian television's popularity and extend it to the digital age …”
