Tim Tebow fans have made a plea to President Barack Obama, asking the most powerful man in the world to help get the football quarterback signed as a Jacksonville Jaguars player.

Fans of Tebow have started a petition to the president asking that he step in and make a personal call to Jaguars' general manager David Caldwell and force him to sign the quarterback for the upcoming season.

However, the petition does not just stop there, and the fans will only be satisfied if Tebow is signed and guaranteed a starting place in the team.

The petition states that if the fans' demands are met then it will be a dead cert for all home games to be sold out, and that the team will start to win, and most importantly the fans "will be happy."

The petition reads: "Jacksonville Jaguars fans want the team to sign recently released QB Tim Tebow. However, rookie general manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars David Caldwell is blocking this from happening. If the Jaguars sign & START Tebow, home games will be sold out, sales will spike, the team will win and the fans will be happy."

The petition has been filed under "job creation," but even though the fans who created it had good intentions, it has not gotten going too powerfully yet.

The petition was started on April 30, but since then only 59 people have signed the call for Obama to make the call.

The official White House petition system means that for the petition to get an official response from the Obama administration it will need about another 99,000 signatures.

Tebow, formerly a New York Jet, has tweeted a passage from the Bible book of Proverbs following his release from the team.

"Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight," reads Tebow's comment about the release.

Recently, the 25-year-old quarterback, who has gained attention for his open displays of his Christian faith on and off the field, found out that the Jets would be releasing him.

"We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow," said head coach Rex Ryan in a statement. "Unfortunately, things did not work out the way we all had hoped. Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward."

The quarterback only made a few appearances for the Jets last season after signing from the Denver Broncos last March, and had been pushed to a third-choice starter for the team.

Tebow remained upbeat despite his quiet season for the Jets, telling ESPN at the end of the campaign: "I felt like it was a learning opportunity for me. There was a lot that I'll take from it. There's a lot that I learned and there are lot of relationships that I've built, so I know that it happened for a reason."
