Ted Cruz Full Speech at RNC 2016 [VIDEO]: Senator Resists to Endorse Donald Trump - The Main Points

Texas senator gets booed off the stage.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Donald Trump never really enjoyed talking about each other, and it has actually become a pastime for the two to trade insults during the GOP campaign trail. Trump would tweet this, and Cruz would promptly reply an insult or two, but one way or another, it has to end for the Texas senator.

Ted Cruz gave a speech at the RNC and congratulated Donald Trump for winning the nomination. Crowds became impatient as the senator did not mention Trump's name again, leading to boos and cheers for Trump during the latter part of his 23-minute speech.

Ted Cruz is known for his long and meaningful speeches, and he has again proved his play with words and stories to capture his audience's attention in his RNC speech. In the early parts of his speech, he mentioned that he hopes that his party's principles prevail come November. He cited specific examples about the value of freedom and how the United States is not like other countries when it comes to enjoying freedom to the full.

He cited the value of family and touched events such as the attacks in Orlando and Nice. He said that today, the people before him stand divided, but everyone needs to unite to reach a common goal. He received cheers during the first part of his speech, and the audience even chanted his name. However, toward the end, the audience wanted to hear him say it. They wanted Ted Cruz to endorse Donald Trump.

Refuses to Endorse Donald Trump

The time Cruz congratulated Donald Trump was the last time he said his name. He did not endorse or said anything about Trump during his long speech. He kept cool, but he awkwardly continued his speech as the crowd booed and chanted "We want Trump" louder and louder. RNC organizers tried to pacify the crowd by showing videos of Trump as well as a picture of him toward the end of Cruz's speech.

The Trump/Cruz relationship

The two's relationship was a contentious one. Trump accused the senator of spreading vile rumors about his wife. Trump even tweeted an unflattering picture of Heidi, Ted's wife on social media. Cruz responded to Trump saying, "I don't get angry often. But you mess with my wife, you mess with my kids—that'll do it every time." Cruz even called Trump a "snivelling coward" and asked to leave his wife alone.
