'Teen Mom' Amber Portwood Reveals New Book, Says It's 'Never Too Late' for Fresh Start

"Teen Mom" star Amber Portwood has made a complete transformation of her life from where she was one year ago. Now the reality star is telling all in her new autobiography, Never Too Late. Portwood just released the cover and information about her book, which comes out next month.

The cover features a selfie, which Portwood explained makes perfect sense for her book and the story she wants to tell.

"In writing this book, I had to step back and really take a look at my actions and life both before and after my jail time," Portwood told Radar Online. "I wanted to incorporate a selfie onto the Never Too Late book cover because I thought it was symbolic of the journey I had to take when writing the book. The selfie has become so mainstream that everyone can relate to it and my story and journey is one that a lot of people can relate to."

Portwood has been through the ringer, dealing with alcohol and drug addiction, domestic violence against her partner, and trips to rehab. When rehab did not work, Portwood hit rock bottom and chose to go to jail instead of spend five years on probation. She felt she could do better inside the protective custody of the jail rather than on her own or with outpatient therapy.

Inside the prison, she blossomed and became a natural leader. She worked with other inmates on their paths to recovery; Portwood also earned her GED, which was one of her life goals. She hopes to one day work with recovering addicts, and sharing her story is a good first start to the next phase of her life.

The publishing company behind Portwood's book feels that it will do extremely well given the success of other books written by "Teen Mom" stars.

"Never Too Late has all the elements of a great story: hardship, hope and addiction, eventually resolved through strength, love and determination," Michael Wilson of Post Hill Press told Radar.

Never Too Late will be released in August.
