'Teen Wolf' to be Cancelled in Its 100th Episode; Trailer for Season 6 Premieres at Comic-Con

Fans are Dismayed with Announcement

After six seasons, the MTV hit "Teen Wolf" will be bidding its fans goodbye. This was announced Thursday at the San Diego Comic-Con. The 20-episode Season 6 is set to premiere in November and will end in 2017. The show finale will be its 100th episode.

Stars Posey, Holland Roden, Dylan Sprayberry, Cody Christian and Khylin Rhambo, along with executive producer Jeff Davis made an appearance at the Teen Wolf panel. The first trailer for Season 6 was also previewed in the event.

Based on the trailer, the final season will introduce the big villains, The Ghost Riders, who will be terrorizing Beacon Hills. The characters were previously mentioned by Lydia in last season's finale. It also appears that Stiles will be targeted by the villains and will be erased from the memories of his family and friends.

Unlike other "Teen Wolf" villains before them, Davis revealed in an interview that there is an unlimited number of Riders. Posey added that they "have this power that nobody else has ever had on the show before."

"Teen Wolf' has been an extraordinary journey, one that captured the hearts and imaginations of fans more than we could've ever imagined," said showrunner and executive producer Jeff Davis. "We're eternally grateful for the support we've received over these past six years and we're excited to take our brave fans on one last, thrilling adventure."

Davis made this statement to the thousands of fans present at Comic-Con 2016 who did not hide their dismay over the cancellation announcement. It is reported that there was a lot of screaming heard from the angry fans.

Meanwhile, it was announced earlier that Cody Christian (Theo) and Dylan O'Brien (Stiles) will be returning for the final season. It will be recalled that Theo was dragged by his sister to hell in last season's finale.

O'Brien, on the other hand, suffered injuries on the set of his movie, "The Maze Runner." For a while it was not clear whether he was fit to return to the series and many fans were worried. Davis however promised that Stiles will play a big part of "Teen Wolf" Season 6, with a lot of the mystery revolving around him.

Arden Cho will not be returning the show however. Her character Kira left Beacon Hills to be with the Skinwalkers last season.

If the first half of Teen Wolf Season 5 was about Scott's pack being torn apart, the second half was about bringing them back together. In the end, reunited Scott and Stiles went on to defeat the beast with the ethereal help from Allison.

Also last season, Stiles realized his future in law enforcement. Maila and Braeden defeated the Desert Wolf and Mason was saved by Lydia's banshee powers.
