'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2' Release Date: Director Talks About Including Long-Time Adversaries

Although the 2014 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot movie may have not blown away critics, the movie did earn high in box office sales enabling it to grab a spot on the list of this year's top grossing films. The obviously has pushed the franchise on for a sequel.

As expected, Paramount Pictures has already announced that it would make a sequel to the title. According to GeeksofDoom.com, the studio has now opted to sign "Earth to Echo" director David Green to helm the next installment of TMNT.

Although, Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec will return to their spot in the project as screenwriters and executive producers, the site added.

As for the characters list, The Wrap meanwhile revealed that film producers Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form, decided to add yet another couple of long-time characters of the fiction to the upcoming title – Rocksteady and Bebop – plus another one.

"We can say that Bebop and Rocksteady are in the film, and Casey Jones is a character that we love and we're trying to fit him in as well," Form was quoted as saying by Omelete (via TW).

For starters, Bebop and Rocksteady were first introduced as Foot Clan members. The Foot Clan is a criminal organization run by Shredder.

After suffering a defeat from the hands of the mutated teen turtles, the clan head transformed Bebop and Rocksteady to a warthog and rhinoceros-looking creatures, respectively.

They were first seen in the 1987 animated series of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

As for Casey Jones, the character is best known for his penchant for various sporting equipment to which he uses in his crime-fighting gigs.

Also mentioned in the cast news is the reprisal of Megan Fox and Will Arnett to their characters as April O'Neil and Vernon Fenwick, respectively.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" 2 is reported to hit the theaters June 3, 2016.
