Teens are known to use creative ways to break the rules, but the latest news of how teens use tampons to get intoxicated may come as a shock.

In a recent report by Phoenix’s KPHO.com, teens have been experimenting with soaking tampons in Vodka and inserting them in their bodies to get drunk. Women are inserting vodka-soaked tampons to get a more discrete and intense drunkenness.

"Quicker high, they think it's going to last longer, it's more intense," said Dr. Dan Quan from Maricopa Medical Center to Phoenix’s KPHO.

In a surprising twist, it is not just the female teens who are inserting the tampons into their bodies. Young boys are reportedly inserting the vodka-soaked tampons into their rectum to seek the same results as their female counterparts.

"This is not isolated to any school, any city, any financial area," said Officer Chris Thomas, a school resource officer, to KPHO. "This is everywhere."

"There's been documented cases of people going to the hospital with alcohol poisoning just from utilizing it that way," Thomas said.

Most people are confused and shocked about the new methods teens are using to get drunk.

In a YouTube video of the report, user Arcisthe1 commented: “This is sick and dangerous. Why are our kids doing this to themselves?!”

According to the news report, using these methods to get drunk can be dangerous. Besides irritation, alcohol poisoning is a serious risk because there is no barrier and the body absorbs more then during traditional drinking.

The report has many people questioning the drug and alcohol abuse of today’s youth and the lengths they will go to get drunk or high.
