'Tekken 7: Fated Retribution' News: Akuma Gameplay, New Rage System Revealed

Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for "Tekken 7" that features the changes coming to the title. The new footage provides fans with an overview of what they can expect from the upcoming fighting game including a new system, Akuma's gameplay, and more.

"Street Fighter's" Akuma

A new fighter joins the game in the form of Akuma from another popular fighting franchise, "Street Fighter." Although Akuma is a guest character in "Tekken 7," he will play a central role in the game's plot.

Based on the video (below), it looks like Akuma will still be able to deliver his trademark moves such as Raging Demon. He also brings along the "Street Fighter" series' EX meter, which will power up his special moves once full. Akuma can also use FADC attacks, which work by canceling his move animations, extending his combos, and delivering a fireball super.

New Rage system

The latest video also introduces the updated Rage system, which can be advantageous to a player with low health. The system works by providing buffs such as Rage Attack and Rage Arts once a player's health meter is below a certain point.

In addition to Akuma and the new Rage system, the new trailer also showed a brief glimpse of the new costumes of some characters. Bandai Namco has recently revealed the new default outfits for fighters Paul Phoenix, Hwaorang, Steve Fox, Devil Jin, and Alisa Bosconovitch.

The footage also briefly showed the recently revealed fighter, Irish assassin Nina Williams in her Fatal Bride outfit. Nina has been a mainstay in the "Tekken" series since the original title released.

"Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" will be available in arcades in Japan in the summer. A console release has also been announced, but Bandai Namco has not revealed the exact release date yet.
