Tesla Model 3 Release Candidate' Out for Test Drive

Tesla chief executive officer (CEO) Elon Musk has just posted on Twitter a teaser video hyping up the Model 3 ahead of its launch on what could be later this year. The tweet has an accompanying video showing a Tesla Model 3 release candidate taking off in an undisclosed location, according to the caption provided by the Tesla CEO.

The tweet by Tesla founder Musk does not have much else going on, but it does show one of the release candidate units of the upcoming Tesla Model 3 zooming away on a parking lot. The candidate model comes in black and appears to have little trouble accelerating and braking in the snippet of the video that Musk has provided in his Twitter post, and the short write-up by Tech Crunch agrees. According to Musk, this is the first drive of a release candidate version of the Model 3, which would make the black sedan in the video possibly the very first candidate unit of the highly anticipated model out of the factory floor and on to the pavement outside.

The Tesla Model 3 has been planned to start with a limited vehicle production run this coming July. The company plans to have their production batches gradually increased to more than 5,000 cars a week by the fourth quarter of this year, to meet the almost overwhelming number of preorders for the vehicle. According to The Daily Mail, Tesla eventually plans to reach the 10,000 cars per week production mark by next year, 2018.
