Texas Baptist Event to Feature Powerful Line-Up

The Southern Baptist of Texas Convention will be showcasing some big name Christian speakers at its annual evangelism conference in two weeks.

Taking place at First Baptist Church of Euless, a town in north-east Texas, the conference will feature sermons from award-winning journalist Lee Strobel as well as from notable preachers Billy Graham's grandson, Will Graham, and Jerry Falwell's son, Jonathan Falwell.

The annual Empower Evangelism Conference, Feb. 16-18, will also bring together Christian musicians to strengthen and encourage Texas Southern Baptists in sharing the Word of God.

"The Empower Evangelism Conference is designed with the prayerful intent that God would revive our love and zeal for our Savior and for the people for whom Jesus came to seek and save," explained SBTC evangelism director Don Cass, to the Southern Baptist Texan.

The theme for the 2009 conference is "Empowered: The Holy Spirit in You," based on Ephesians 1:13-14.

Cass says the theme is meant to remind participants of their identity and the "guarantee" that because the Holy Spirit is in them, their "redemption and inheritance [is] promised through Jesus Christ."

"It is my prayer that God will use this conference to begin the awakening so many of us have been praying for," the SBTC evangelism director said. "If you miss a single session you may miss experiencing God's explosion of power and a special word from him just for you. I urge you to be present for every session."

The Empower Evangelism Conference is free and open to the public, with registration and fee required only for the luncheon event on the last day.
