Thanos Played by Josh Brolin in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'; Appearance Ties to 'Avengers 3'? (VIDEO)

Josh Brolin is set to play evil villain Thanos in "Guardians of the Galaxy," according to reports. Although Thanos is not the main villain in the film, fans of the comics have been clamoring to find out who plays the super-powerful villain, as he most likely will show up in "Avengers 3."

Josh Brolin's role in "Guardians of the Galaxy" as Thanos was first reported by Latino-Review.com, who said Marvel Studios was looking for "an actor of some caliber" who could "take the part into Avengers 3 as a major villain." 46-year-old Brolin, who has been in "No Country for Old Men" and "True Grit," will not appear on-screen, though, as Thanos is completely computer- generated during the film.

Marvel movies have been teasing Thanos' appearance for a while going all the way back to "The Avengers," when he showed up in the post-credits scene. From there his signature weapon, the Infinity Gauntlet, appeared in "Thor: The Dark World." Even "Guardians of the Galaxy" hasn't been shy about revealing their involvement with Thanos and "Avengers 3."
