Echoing the official announcement are the writers of the show who took to the social media to say (via Enstarz.com): "Ready. Set. 1/21. 9 PM. #the100 #The100S3"

The same article from the media outlet also revealed what fans should expect when the story about the battle for survival between the Grounders and the Sky People returns to the small screen.

According to Enstarz, the show begins several months after the events of "Blood Must Have Blood: Part 2." Titled "Wanheda – Part One," viewers should expect to see the Sky People still reeling from the tragic Mount Weather massacre as well as the discovery of A.L.I.E, who is an AI.

To further amp up the excitement for the season opener, cast member Isaiah Washington also went to his Twitter this week to post a picture of the script for S3 Ep 01.

The actor, who plays Thelonious Jaha in the series, captioned the photo with:

"I'm going to get nailed for leaking this, but this episode is Epic! I will take my spanking like a man later #The100."

Series writer Aaron Ginsburg, on his Tumblr account, said that the third season is definitely going to be "brutal" but fans will appreciate how the writers were able to "[push] the boundaries of [their] storytelling more and more."
