'The Big Bang Theory' Ending After Season 12? Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar Share What They Think

The longest-running comedy series currently on network television might be ending after season 12. Producers of "The Big Bang Theory," which will premiere season 11 this September, might be preparing to wind down the show and stars Kaley Cuoco (Penny) and Kunal Nayyar (Raj) have some thoughts about this.

Cuoco said that she never expected the series would last over a decade. CBS renewed "The Big Bang Theory" until season 12, which means the show will be expected to air until 2019. After that, however, is anyone's guess.

While Cuoco loves her work, she said that she would rather "The Big Bang Theory" end while it's still in a good place.

"I'd be happy to go as long as we can, but I would like to go out on a high note," Cuoco said.

Nayyar, on the other hand, believes the end is near for "The Big Bang Theory" simply because their characters are growing older.

"I mean, no-one wants to see an old, fat Raj," Nayyar said in his interview with Digital Spy. "I'm not saying it's the end after season 12, but we know that this incredible, special thing is going to come to an end, and sooner rather than later," the star added.

Meanwhile, "The Big Bang Theory" season 11 will open where it left off last season, with Sheldon (Jim Parsons) proposing to Amy (Mayim Bialik). The show will have special guest stars Riki Lindhome and a still-unnamed personality.

Showrunner Steve Holland told TV Guide that this important guest will figure in a flashback scene. Apparently, Sheldon sought someone's permission first before asking Amy to marry him in last season's finale.

"The Big Bang Theory" season 11 will begin airing on Monday, Sept. 25 at 8:00 p.m. EST. Then by Nov. 2, the show will shift to Thursday in the time period.

"The Big Bang Theory" also stars Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Simon Helberg (Howard) and Melissa Rauch (Bernadette).
