'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Spoilers: Series Executive Teases Romantic Cliffhanger On Season Finale

The ninth season finale of CBS' hit sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" is already here and fans are hankering what to expect in the highly anticipated season-ender.

The Futon Critic's synopsis for Episode 24, "The Convergence Convergence," teases the return of Christine Baranski as Leonard's (Johnny Galecki) mother Beverly, and Laurie Metcalf as Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) mom Mary. The episode will also feature a guest appearance of Emmy Award wiinner Judd Hirsch, who will play Alfred, Leonard's dad.

As stated in the synopsis, the three elderlies will be coming to town. The situation will make everyone quite a bit uncomfortable, considering that Leonard's parents have just divorced. Adding more to the fray is Sheldon's "devoutly religious mother," who is, at the moment, single and available.

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter cited series executive Steve Molaro dishing details about the upcoming segment particularly with regards to the newcomers.

Molaro revealed that the trio will be coming over for Penny and Leonard's formal wedding ceremony. This time around, it will be attended by loving family members and friends.

"That's at least Penny's goal: to try and make it up to her mother-in-law a little bit. But that means we have new characters coming to town and meeting for the first time. The way they get along may be enough story for before we actually get to the ceremony," Molaro told the outlet.

Molaro went on to tease that the newly-divorced man might hit it off with Mary. "As far as what is surprising about that, there might be a bit of an unexpected attraction springing up between Leonard's father and Sheldon's mother," he said.

As expected, the dynamic between the two characters will give Leonard and Sheldon the feeling of awkwardness. It would be interesting to find out how the friends will get to deal with the new developments.

"We leave [the season] in typical Big Bang fashion -- on bit of a cliffhanger with Leonard, Penny and Sheldon in the living room making sense of everything that's going on," Molaro went on to say.

"The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 finale airs this Thursday, May 12 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
