'The Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Spoilers: Steve Molaro Talks About Bernadette's Surprise

The previous episode of "The Big Bang Theory" saw every couple of the series eager to celebrate Valentine's Day. The end of the episode revealed a surprise for one of the couples.

Bernadette, played by Melissa Rauch, and Howard, played by Simon Helberg, were seen trying out a hot tub. However, their intimate moment was interrupted by a rabbit exploring the yard. Howard then tried to take care of the rabbit, which led to him getting bit.

As he was rushed to the hospital, Bernadette seemed to have told the rabbit something that surprised many of the fans. She stated, "We'll find another time to tell him I'm pregnant."

The executive producer of the series Steve Molaro recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about how they came about the plotline. He revealed that it was not originally part of the outline for the episode. It was revealed that the decision was an organic movement in the story.

He revealed, "We were writing it and getting toward the end of the story and I guess maternity was in the air because Bernadette was holding this wrapped up bunny and they named it and we were writing the final page of that storyline. Half-kidding, I said, what if Bernadette tells the rabbit, 'We'll find another time to tell him I'm pregnant.' The room had such a strong, positive reaction to it."

In addition, Molaro was asked why they felt as though it was a good time for Bernadette's pregnancy. He explained that in real life and on a show, there is not an appropriate time to have a baby. He said, "This baby wouldn't be due until halfway through season 10 of the show. We're in the middle of our ninth year, why not now?!"

"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 airs on CBS every Thursday nights.
