The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Hosts Workplace Conference

ASHEVILLE, N.C.—The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association hosted the “His Presence in the Workplace” conference at the Cove near Asheville, March 31-April 1. The conference gathered workplace ministries leaders, business executives, pastors and lay leaders that were involved with the BGEA.

"The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in 2002 made a decision to have a new department called New Ventures for the purpose of identifying ministries or groups we could come along side," said Jack Munday, BGEA project manager. "And one of those groups is workplace ministries."

The emphasis of the workplace ministry movement is important, Munday said, "because it has one of the greatest potentials to reach the lost through the church in the workplace. Therefore, we must emphasize the biblical view that work is ministry.

"God is stirring the hearts of people in the business world and it is exciting. Everyone has to revisit their lives in the workplace and view it as 'I am in the will of God and my work is my calling, therefore it will be a ministry,'" Munday said.

BGEA's New Ventures team advocates integrating ministry in the workplace without being offensive and without violating work time, Munday said.

"This event is part of the process of continued involvement with the ministry," he said. "We are looking to come alongside this movement of what God is doing through training, supporting and advocating being salt and light in the workplace."

Munday said the New Ventures team would help workplace ministries find ways to help equip local churches to prepare their members for sharing their faith at work.
