'The Blacklist' Release Date, Plot News: NBC Pushes Back New Season Premiere, Executive Teases Liz and Red Will Be 'On The Run'
Instead of the earlier reported Sept. 24 outing date, a new update for the premiere date of NBC's hit crime thriller drama TV series "The Blacklist" has been revealed.
According to reports, the network has decided to push back the onscreen return of the James Spader-led series by a week to give way for the upcoming two-hour premiere special of "Heroes: Reborn" and will take on its 9 p.m. time slot. This means "The Blacklist" Season 3 will return on Oct. 1.
Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment's executive, told the media during the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour in Beverly Hills that delaying the return of "The Blacklist" will help make the revival of the 2006 science fiction TV drama series more of an event.

"We think the fans will really appreciate the longer premiere," the network's chairman said.
On related news, the show is said to pick up immediately after the events of Season 2's finale. It is still unclear if the earlier rumoured time jump will happen.
However, it is now known that Liz (Megan Boone) and her partner Red (Spader) will still be on the run from the FBI. The former has already been listed as one of Bureau's most wanted individuals and her colleagues are more than eager to bring her down. With this situation, Liz has to depend on Red for her survival while at the same time end the mysterious Cabal case.
Furthermore, Season 3 will see yet another new villain in the person of Mr. Solomon. The new character is played by "X-Men: First Class" actor Edi Gathegi and is described as a "monster in gentleman's clothing."
To reiterate, "The Blacklist" Season 3 premieres Oct. 1 on NBC.
