Enstarz.com meanwhile shared some bits of the Spader interview in which the actor also suggested that the episode will see an "intense battle" between his Red and the series' current antagonist Braxton, who is played by Ron Perlman.

"Right out of the gate in the episode that plays after the Super Bowl, you see that the terrain has become considerably rockier, requiring decisive and aggressive action on the part of Reddington," Spader revealed. "And, of course, Reddington drags everyone into the mess as always."

For those who missed it, SpoilerTV provided the episode's official synopsis where it reads:

"When the elusive Reddington (James Spader) is arrested and taken to a secret detention facility Liz (Megan Boone) and the task force set out to save Red before he disappears forever. Meanwhile, Red encounters Luther Braxton (guest star Ron Perlman) at the detention facility, a thief that he shares a complicated history with."

"The Blacklist" Season 2 will return this Sunday, Feb. 1 after the NBC coverage of the NFL Super Bowl.
