"This is the true nature of home – it is the place of peace; the shelter, not only from injury, but from all terror, doubt and division."
John Ruskin

After studying about Rebekah, what lessons from her life can I learn and incorporate within my family?

"Peace – that was the other name for home."
Kathleen Norris

INSPIRATION

"Anyone can build an altar; it requires God to provide the flame. Anybody can build a house; we need the Lord for the creation of a home."
John Henry Jowett

We have looked at the home of Isaac and Rebekah and their sons, Esau and Jacob. We have been witness to the way "favoritism" can divide a family. And we learned that deceit and betrayal, when allowed to linger in the shadows of family life, only tear apart the fibers meant to weave a place of comfort and safety. A place where outside turmoil cannot penetrate and break the heavenly bond of parents and children.

Author Charles Crowe penned this poem called "Blueprint." It is a beautiful description of what a home can and should be:

Blueprint

"Home – a world of strife shut out, a world of love shut in.

Home – a place where the small are great, and the great are small …

Home – the center of our affection, round which our heart's best wishes twine.

Home – the place where our stomachs get three square meals a day and our hearts a thousand."

May the lessons we learned from Rebekah and Isaac help each of us as we seek to follow God's leading in our own homes.

"The Christian home is the Master's workshop where the processes of character molding are silently, lovingly, faithfully, and successfully carried on."
Lord Houghton

AFFIRMATION

Love At Home

"There is beauty all around
When there's love at home;
There is joy in every sound
When there's love at home.

Peace and plenty here abide,
Smiling sweet on every side;
Time doth softly, sweetly glide
When there's love at home."
