The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray release date is set for Dec. 4. The news was announced early Friday and also the film will come in both a regular edition that costs $35.00, and a Bat Cowl Limited Edition that is priced at $40.00.

Fans will also be able to purchase the whole trilogy if they buy 'The Dark Knight Trilogy Limited Edition Giftset' which will cost $52.99, or if they decide to wait until 2013 'The Dark Knight Trilogy Ultimate Collector's Edition' will arrive.

The Blu-ray will be released with some extras including "The Batmobile" documentary where all five Batmobiles used for the Batman films and television show will be together for the very first time. The birth and evolution of the caped crusader's wheels will be closely examined in this extra.

The film will also come with another extra called "Ending the Knight," which is a comprehensive look into how the director Christopher Nolan and his production team made "The Dark Knight Rises" which is also the conclusion to his reboot of the Batman films.

"The Dark Knight Rises" has received an overwhelming amount of positive reviews and has grossed $941 million worldwide. It currently holds the title as the 17th highest grossing film of all time and the second highest grossing film of 2012 behind "The Avengers" and it still has more time in theaters to catch up.

"The Dark Knight Rises" is the last film in the Batman reboot series directed by Christopher Nolan. The other two films in the series are 2005's "Batman Begins" and 2008's "The Dark Knight" starring the late Heath Ledger.
