'The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim' Release Date: Downloadable Content Coming (VIDEO)

Bethesda's "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" will offer gamers less frequent and more worthwhile additional content after being released.

This massive video game already features several hours of content due to its explorable world.

The game's director and producer, Todd Howard, told Wired.com about the game's downloadable content: "Very quick DLC might sell well, but that's not our priority."

"We're not going to be doing a lot of it. Our high-level thinking is that there [will] be not as many [pieces of DLC], but they'll be bigger and more substantial. The goal overall is not necessarily to put out more content, but to make the game better," said Howard.

Howard noted he does not know if the game's DLC will be more levels that are new or changes to the core game play.

"We could," he said. "We don't want to leave anything off the table."

The new DLC will not come immediately after the game comes out, though.

"We'll start hitting on everything after vacation," Howard said. "We'll take a break [after the game launches], see what consumers think of the game, then see which direction we want to go."

Bethesda's long anticipated first person, role playing game is set for release this coming Friday.

A few video game retailers in the United Kingdom will hold special midnight events for the game. Game London Oxford Street and Gamestation Birmingham New Street are just two of those stores.

It will be playable on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

Australian Magazine Atomic reviewed and awarded the game with a high score of 95 percent.
