'The Flash' Casting Updates: Wrestling Star Adam 'Edge' Copeland Joins Season 2 as Atom-Smasher

Yet another casting update for the CW's hit superhero TV drama series "The Flash" surfaced this week pointing out to the inclusion of a wrestling superstar who will be joining Season 2 as the Atom-Smasher.

A report by ComicBook.com said that WWE Superstar Adam Copeland has been cast to play the role in question. Copeland's character will appear in the season premiere of the show, which is currently filming.

Despite how the comic readers know of him, Atom Smasher won't be on the side of the good guys.

"One of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season, Atom Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash. His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him," the network's description of the character reads.

Al Rothstein, the character's alter ego, is the grandson to the villain Cyclotron. He is also connected to Al Pratt, the Golden Age hero known as The Atom, long before Ray Palmer used the name.

His powers include the ability to control his molecular structure, which allows him to grow in enormous heights of over sixty feet. Strength is not a problem to him as his body's density often grows proportionately to the size he wants to assume.

He is typically associated with heroes from the Justice Society of America and Infinity, Inc. Both superhero teams came from the parallel universe of Earth-Two.

As for Copeland, the 41-year-old pro wrestler joined the WWE in 1997 and performed for the federation until 2011. Upon his retirement, he pursued his acting career, which landed him a recurring role in the Syfy supernatural drama series, "Haven."

"The Flash" Season 2 premieres this Oct. 6, on The CW.
