'The Flash' Movie Cast Update: Kiersey Clemons Tapped to Play Iris West; First Glimpse of Ezra Miller as The Flash Seen in Teaser
Actress Will Reunite with Her Dope Director Rick Famuyiwa
Kiersey Clemons has been tapped to play Iris West in DC's upcoming superhero movie, "The Flash." She will star in the movie opposite Ezra Miller, who will play the titular character. Fans are familiar with Clemons, whose past work includes the Sundance stand-out "Dope" and was recently seen in the comedy sequel "Neighbors 2."
Reunion with 'Dope' Director
Clemons was also recently cast in the sci-fi thriller remake of "Flatliners" and has a recurring role in Amazon's "Transparent." In the "Flash" movie, however, she gets to reunite with her "Dope" director Rick Famuyiwa. In their first movie together, Clemons played the role of a lesbian drummer.

Incidentally, Rick Famuyiwa took over the project from the film's original director, Seth Grahame-Smith who left over creative differences on the project. It appears, however, that the movie production of the movie will start as scheduled which is sometime next year.
Hollywood's Rising Star
Even if she is now considered as one of Hollywood's most promising stars, her casting in the "Flash" movie is a major opportunity for Clemons and will make a big difference in her career. If the movie remains faithful to its comics counterpart, the Iris role will be a major character.
Iris-Barry Relationship in Comics vs. TV Series
In the comics version, Iris West is a journalist who was adopted by scientist Ira West. She meets Barry Allen while working as a writer for Picture News. Barry, meanwhile, works as a scientist at the Central City PD. They fall in love and eventually get married.
In the CW TV series version of The Flash, the couple are lifelong friends and are not lovers. However, there have been flashes of romantic tension between them even if Iris is involved with Eddie. Either way, there is no denying that Iris plays a major part in Barry's life and so it is safe to say that Clemons' role in "The Flash" movie is an important one.
Nothing is being said as of now whether Clemons will be Barry's love interest in the movie. Details of Clemon's character are still being kept under wraps. A lot of people are guessing that it will follow the Mary Jane formula in the original Spiderman franchise where it kept people guessing of the stars' relationship before really making it official in the sequel.

Besides the announcement, Warner Bros. released a Justice League teaser trailer at their Comic-Con presentation last Saturday. Here, the audience got a first glimpse of Ezra Miller as Barry Allen.
