'The Flash' News, Update: Season 2 Teasers Revealed; Showrunner Talks About the Multiple Speedsters

Fans are already excited for the comeback of DC's beloved superhero, Flash, on it's The CW show, "The Flash" Season 2. To further amp up the excitement, the network released a pair of new promotional clips featuring Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) in his redesigned suit.

Titled "Coming Fast," the short yet tasteful teaser showcased Barry's new costume. It also showed STAR Labs resident genius Cisco (Carlos Valdes) getting awed or shocked at something. Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) were also flashed briefly.

The second promo, titled "Catch Me," meanwhile showed some interesting nuggets of Season 2. One of which is the Atom Smasher, previously reported to be played by ex-WWE star Adam "Edge" Copeland. Those with the quick eyes may have also noticed a spotlight with a lightning bolt symbol attached to it. It seems to emanate Batman's "bat signal." Will Barry and the team be using such a tool for his crime-fighting gigs?

On related news, executive producer Gabrielle Stanton spoke with TV Line lately to explain further the influx of several speedsters into Central City.

"We didn't want Barry to get lonely so we thought we'd bring in some more speedsters," the EP said (via TV Line). "It's always Barry's journey. The Flash is always about Barry, but these people who come in will show us different ways that The Flash can be."

For those who missed it, "Master of Sex" actor Teddy Sears will be coming over to the show to play as the original speedster Jay Garrick.

"He's going to be Barry's mentor a little bit and help him really reach his potential," Stanton explained to the media outlet.

Stanton, however, was secretive when it comes to "Insurgent" star Keiynan Lonsdale's Wally West. Comic book fans may have already known him as the Kid Flash. He is related to Iris West.

And then there's Zoom, who the showrunner described as "just scary as all hell." Stanton revealed to TV Line that the character will be Season 2's central enemy.

"Zoom is going to be very different in terms of motivation, in terms of what he wants from The Flash, in terms of why he's doing what he's doing," the EP said (via TV Line). "I know a lot of people are thinking, '[Zoom and Reverse Flash] were so similar in the comics. What's going to make them different?' I guarantee no one will confuse him for one second with what we did last year. It's actually much more different than people would think."
