'The Flash' Season 2 Cast News, Update: Michael Ironside Cast as Captain Cold's Ruthless, Criminal Father
As the saying goes, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." The upcoming season of The CW's hit superhero TV drama series "The Flash" will introduce the father of one of the show's rogue villains, Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), and it appears that the newcomer is not an amateur when it comes to crime.
The Hollywood Reporter said that veteran actor Michael Ironside will join the Snart family in Central City as Leonard and Lisa Snart/Golden Glider's (Peyton List) "estranged and abusive" father, Lewis.
He is described as a "cold-blooded, ruthless career criminal."

"Recently released from prison, he returns to Central City with a plan that will endanger both of his children. In the comics, not much is known about the Snart patriarch other than the fact that he was so abusive to his son — the future Captain Cold — that the boy spent more time with his grandfather who ran an ice truck," the site went on to reveal.
The 65-year-old "Top Gun" actor will debut in Season 2's third episode aptly titled "Family of Rogues" alongside Miller and List as the villainous siblings.
Aside from 1986 Tom Cruise classic, Ironside also appeared in numerous films like "Starship Troopers," "Total Recall," "X-Men: First Class," and "Scanners," among others.
His TV credits include his role as Lois Lane's father, General Sam Lane, in the Tom Welling-led TV series "Smallville."
"The Flash" returns to the CW for its sophomore season this Oct. 6.
