'The Flash' season 2 news, cast, spoilers: Tony Todd joining season 2

Season 2 of "The Flash" is around a month or so away but many are already excited about what this season will bring. With so many questions left behind in the finale of season 1, fans are looking forward to get answers soon. However, aside from settling old scores, there's also the appearance of a new character.

According to Variety, Tony Todd has been cast as the voice of the villain Zoom. Apparently, Zoom will be one of the main foes of Barry Allen a.k.a. Flash, played by Grant Justin. Much like Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh), he can also manipulate time using the force of speed. He will be the second Reverse-Flash that Allen will have to deal with.

One of the things that will be different with Todd's character Zoom is the way the show chose to approach his costume. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that Zoom's costume is inspired by Venom in Marvel's Spider-Man. "The Zoom outfit is much more organic than the Reverse-Flash suit. In a way, it's hard to tell if it is a suit or alive… There's no skin showing, for all you know there's a robot underneath, or dark energy."

They also wanted to preserve the mystery to this season's big bad as opposed to the last one. Kreisberg also shared, "Last year, with the Reverse-Flash, we just modulated Tom Cavanagh's voice, and this year we wanted to do something a little bit different. Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit, and so we wanted to do something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader — this iconic voice coming out of this mask. Last year, we thought of the Reverse-Flash as a speed warrior; this year, Zoom is like a speed demon, and no one does demon-voice better than Tony Todd."

Zoom will not have destruction and chaos on his mind but rather will have a personal goal similar to Harrison Well. As to what it is, no details are given about it yet.

Fans look forward to the premiere of the The Flash season 2 on Oct. 6, Tuesday on The CW.
