'The Flash' Season 2 Premiere Spoilers, News: "It's Go Time!"

The highly anticipated second season of The CW's hit DC superhero drama TV series "The Flash" is finally premiering this week.

The new installment of the show, which stars Grant Gustin as the titular hero, will follow the events after Barry Allen defeated his arch-nemesis Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash. Up in the sky of Central City comes a swirling massive singularity which fans saw literally consuming everything that stands underneath it.

With a strong will to keep the city and his loved ones away from harm, the Scarlett Speedster spared no time as he dashed towards the very center of the singularity armed only with a strong determination and the ability to move close to the speed of light.

The episode synopsis shared over at The Futon Critic said that following the incident involving the Singularity almost consuming the entirety of Central City, Barry is still struggling to come to terms with Eddie's death.

Traumatised and concerned that his friends will once again be put in harm's way, the Speedforce user decided to take matters onto his own hands. But the CCPD forensic scientist will realize that sometimes even superheroes need some help.

This comes to pass when a meta-human named Atom Smasher attacks the city. Capable of growing himself to the size and mass he wants, the new villain comes via the disrupted continuum that Barry and the STAR Labs geniuses had created back in Season 1. Along with Atom Smasher are other interesting entities from the parallel universes which will be tackled as the season moves on.

For the meantime, Barry's good friend and love interest, Iris, tells him to allow the rest of his friends to help him take down the new enemy as the latter proves to be a very formidable one.

On the other hand, Cisco assists Joe in establishing what the police officer called "the Meta Task Force," which as the name suggested, is aimed at rounding up any emerging metahumans.

Catch "The Flash" Season 2 premiere tonight, October 6, 8 p.m. on The CW.
