'The Following' Season 2 Spoilers: Ryan On The Mend, Emma is 'Territorial'

"The Following" is back on Fox with a brand new episode of season two entitled "Reflection" next week.

As the second season of the dramatic thriller reaches its fifth episode, fans are wondering what the rest of the season holds. In the beginning of season two, Ryan Hardy (portrayed by Kevin Bacon) was on the mend-- something Bacon used as a comparison between Hardy to his arch nemesis, Joe Carroll.

"I am not drinking, I am going to meetings, my heart is in good shape," Bacon explained to TVLine of his character. "In a strange way, I'm following a little bit in Joe's footsteps … You see a happier, more together kind of guy. Now, it is 'The Following' so it doesn't last for long."

Although Ryan seems to be following Joe's lead, Bacon said his character is less fascinated by the cult leader this season.

"Seemingly I have lost my obsession for Joe … He is no longer burning inside my heart in the way that he was in season one," Bacon said, according to BuzzSugar.

Notwithstanding, Ryan will be back on Joe's case before season two comes to an end.

"Truth is, [Joe] is incurably important to me," Bacon added. "Sadly, [Joe is] the most important thing in my life."

As for Emma Hill, actress Valorie Curry explained her character's residual obsession with Joe Carroll as being "territorial."

"It's a complicated thing," Curry said to TVLine. "She knows more than anyone that Joe is capable of anything including coming back from the dead, but the complication there is if he did, a lot of feelings would arise in terms of having been abandoned and allowed to believe that he was dead."

New characters this season include Ryan's niece, Max Hardy, a wealthy mother of two, Lily Gray, and teenaged Mandy Lang.

The next episode of "The Following" on Feb. 24 will see: "Ryan and Max drawn into a game of cat-and-mouse after apprehending a suspect," according to the synopsis on TV Guide. "Elsewhere, Joe formulates a new plan, and Emma begins to understand the danger she has put herself in through the company she's keeping."

"The Following" airs on Fox Mondays at 9 p.m. EST.
