Fans saw the young over-achiever getting denied to join her boyfriend's concert tour, her sister moving out from their adoptive home, her biological sister deprived of a home, and her favorite teacher has been fired from school.
The synopsis from The Futon Critic indicates that even though Mariana finds it difficult to deal with the changes at home and in school, she will focus "her attention on organizing a student protest over an administrative incident."

Meanwhile, Callie (Maia Mitchell) will be putting herself in harm's way in order to help a friend who recently returned in town and is currently on the streets. Will her actions can cause her a coercion with Stef who have already warned her not to?
