The midseason ender of the LGBT-themed family drama brought the Adams-Fosters kids Brandon (David Lambert), Jesus (Noah Centineo), Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) into life-changing situations. The summer finale also showed Mariana reaching her breaking point and reaping the consequences of her addiction. She got a D on her English paper and she needed to deal with Nick's creepy return.

Meanwhile, Callie is probably going to get murdered after receiving the offshoot of her persistence to advocate for both Jack (Tanner Buchanan) and Kyle (Adam Irigoyen). Aaron (Elliot Fletcher) informed her that the mystery DNA on the murder weapon does not match Doug Harvey's (Hugh Scott), but it belongs to a family member. She later found herself trapped in a car with Mrs. Johnson's true murderer.

On the other hand, Brandon's dreams of Julliard crumbled. The eldest Foster child passed the audition but the college board discovered his SAT cheating scandal.

Season 4B: Episode 11 Release Date & Spoilers

"The Fosters" will return to Freeform in spring but there is no official date yet. In a recent interview with EW, executive producer Peter Paige reassured that there is always hope for the troubled Adams-Fosters kids after the intense summer finale. He said that they will surely figure out a way to overcome incredibly difficult things.

The executive producer shared that Mariana is facing pretty serious reckoning for screwing up with Jesus' ADHD medication. He stressed that the future episodes will see more of her dealing the consequences of her choices.

Just like Mariana, Paige said that Brandon will also face the consequences of his past decisions. He said that the real-life penalty of Brandon's cheating scandal is a one-year suspension from academia. He teased that Brandon might reapply to Julliard after the suspension but it could take a very long time.

As for Callie, Paige disclosed to TVLine that the eldest daughter of the Fosters is smart and resourceful. He said that Callie is going to figure something out and save herself from the murderer.

Paige also told TV Guide that Jesus is not saying goodbye in the second half of the fourth season. He hinted that Jesus will escape death but he may never be the same person.
