'The Goldbergs' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Show to Pay Homage to 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'

"The Goldbergs," ABC's hit sophomore comedy, has been known for sharing some of the most amazing moments in the 1980s era by paying tribute to some of the greatest including "Star Wars," and the "The Goonies."

Now, as reported by TV Line, "The Goldbergs" is said to be working on a tribute to "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." According to the site, it will be part of the upcoming "John Hughes" episode in Season 2.

"Ferris Bueller exuded cool. He got the girl, he had the epic day off, he outsmarted his teachers, parents, siblings and classmates," creator Adam F. Goldberg said. "And the way John Hughes captured that epic day of fun, it was the obvious choice to send the Goldbergs on a quest to recreate that awesome day off."

'"My older brother Barry and I had little in common growing up, but we shared an equal obsession with Ferris Bueller's Day Off,'" Goldberg explained. "Watching it over and over was how we bonded and we quoted lines from it as if it was our secret language."

"We saw ourselves in the iconic character of Ferris, the popular schemer who could do no wrong. However, we all knew the reality — neither of us was a Ferris. Sadly, we both more resembled Cameron, Ferris' hapless sidekick," he added.

Meanwhile, the upcoming episode entitled "Family Takes Care of Beverly" which will air this coming Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 8:30 p.m. on ABC.

"When Pops accidentally starts a fire in his apartment during a Halloween party, he's evicted and Beverly invites him to move into the Goldbergs' home. Pops' wild lifestyle is soon too much for the family to handle and they decide to look into other options. Meanwhile, Barry stops Erica from eating Pop Rocks candy with soda, since according to urban legend, the combination would kill her. Since he "saves" her, Barry wants something in return from Erica," the synopsis reads.
