The Healthy Disciple Engages in God-Exalting Worship

The true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. (John 4:23 NIV)

Sound a tad familiar? Then you too might be entering worship with the wrong motivation. If Wally and Wanda were true worshipers, they would understand that worship is about giving, not getting.

The amazing reality, however, is that in giving we receive. Funny how that happens, isn't it? As we give ourselves back to God, he fills us with his joy. As we offer our lives as a living sacrifice, God blesses us for our obedience to his call. As we sing and pray and listen and serve, the bounty of his eternal rewards are overwhelming.

Next Sunday, enter the sanctuary with a heart's desire to do nothing but give. You will undoubtedly be amazed by how the Father's heart will sing over you with joy. In the meantime, pray that your daily time of worship will prepare you for weekly worship with the family of God!

Prayer: Father, help me worship you in spirit and in truth every day.
