'The Hobbit 3' Spoilers, News: 'Lord of The Rings' Unreleased Footage Confusion

Fans of the epic fantasy series "The Hobbit" are excited for the upcoming release of its third installment to be called "The Battle of the Five Armies," which will hit theaters Dec. 17, 2014.

Although some rumors are claiming that director Peter Jackson may include "unreleased footage" from his "Lord of the Rings" in the sequel, it has been confirmed that what he actually said is that the previously unreleased footage would be released in new LORs releases.

"There are a few scenes that haven't been seen from Lord of the Rings, but not many. We might try to put them back in," the award-winning directo told GigJets.com. "It's a big logistical thing which hasn't wrapped our heads around. But if there's enough interest [we might]."

Meanwhile, Richard Armitage, who plays Thorin Oakenshield, spoke with high regard about the film's breakthrough in the aspect of cinematographic innovations since the release of LOTR.

"I think when The Lord of the Rings was made, it just felt like such a breakthrough in terms of cinematography. Since then, there's been a huge shift in the technology. I think The Hobbit has been a big experiment in technology," the 42-year-old actor said.

Armitage also shared his experiences during the filming process when one time, they have to be in a character for a full day.

"We wanted to go camping as the Dwarves. And there was one day on The Hobbit when we were at the top of a mountain and we were left there all day in our costumes," the actor recalled.

"So, we sort of stayed in character all day and we did helicopter shots and that was when I thought, You know what? If I can stay with the character for 12 hours, maybe I'm inside of him? It doesn't come and go," he added.

'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" will be the last installment of "The Hobbit" series, which was based on the novel of the same name by J.R.R. Tolkien.
